MUSCATINE, Iowa--Michael Lloyd Hance, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2012, at his home in Muscatine.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society in Michael's name.
Michael was born on April 8, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Lloyd M. and Arlene G. Renner Hance.
From 1952-1956, Michael served as an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force.
On August 5, 1961, Michael was united in marriage to Mary E. Taylor in White Pine, Tennessee.
He worked for Monsanto for 26 years as a traffic manager before retiring in 1986.
Michael had been a member of the Elks Lodge, Optimist Club, Kiwanis and the Quarterback Club. He was an avid lover of music, a love he shared with his father. Michael also enjoyed his flower garden, bird watching, and spending time with his dogs, especially going to agility training with his border collie, Griz.
Michael will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary "Libby" Hance of Muscatine; a daughter, Lisa Chrz and husband, Bob, of Fruitland; a son, Eric Hance and wife, Brenda, of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Tyler and Anthony Winston, Orin Hance, Nathan Bell, Courtney Simpson and Kristina King; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marcia Schafer.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
