Ruth E. Bolen
January 31, 1933 - June 14, 2013

Ruth E. Bolen, of Antigo, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Kindred-Eastview under the care of family, assisted by LeRoyer Hospice after a courageous five month battle with brain cancer. She was 80 years old. She was born on January 31, 1933 in the town of Neva, a daughter of the late Henry and Gladys (Hruska) Savina. She married Jack Bolen on May 9, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1993.

She was a 1951 graduate of Antigo High School. Following graduation she worked for Vassau Insurance for a year until she began working as a secretary for her father at Nash Garage. She then worked at Montgomery Ward for 20 years and in 1979 began working as a secretary for Great Lakes Hardwood Lumber, retiring in 1997.

She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her little Yorkie, Ozzie. She enjoyed embroidery work, gardening and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Survivors include a daughter, Camellia (Ronald) Schroepfer of Antigo; two sons, Michael (Sally) Bolen and Patrick Bolen both of Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Sally Bolen of Neenah; 11 grandchildren, Heather (Adam) Miller, Noelle (Vince) Federman, Seth and Erin Schroepfer, Amy, Nicholas and Nathan Bolen, Travis Wickus, Jacklyn (Brian) Oppelt and Christina (Nathan) Goodwin, Jenny (Bruce) Honzik, 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey (James) Hering of Sheboygan, Kathleen Bera of Little Chute and Paula Smith of Appleton; a brother, Alfred (Jean) Savina of Antigo; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Bolen; sister, Rita Marckx, and a sister in infancy.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Reverend David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 - 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial to the American Brain Tumor Association will be established in memory of Ruth.
