Daniel Kosinski
March 5, 1926 - July 25, 2013

Daniel Kosinski, of Antigo, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Lili Lane Assisted Living in Weston. He was 87 years old. He was born on March 5, 1926 in West Allis, a son of the late Alex and Sophie (Kosinski) Kosinski. He married Dorothy Perry on August 16, 1947 in Milwaukee. She survives.

He was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1946.

He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII serving from January of 1944 until May of 1946 in the South Pacific on a destroyer as a second class machinist.

Mr. Kosinski owned and operated a mink ranch for 33 years in the town of Polar. He also worked as an American Family Insurance agent until retirement.

He was a member of Antigo Community Church.

For 50 years he was a member of the American Legion Sparks-Doernenburg Post #3, Antigo and held the position of commander and adjutant.

Mr. Kosinski was one of the founding members of the Antigo Co-op Credit Union, now known as CoVantage Credit Union. He was elected as the credit union's first treasurer and served in that position for 19 years. He also served as chairman for the town of Polar, on the Langlade County Board of Supervisors and on the Crestwood School Board.

He enjoyed raising beef cattle, woodworking, gardening, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include 10 daughters, Darlene (Paul) Hathaway of Franklin, Mary (Ed) Carter of Folsom, Calif, Diane (Doug) Arndt of Loomis, Calif, Carol (Ted) Bonnell of Wausau, Beverly (Randy) Karpinski of Goshen, Ind, Shirley (Neil) Jensen of Elroy, Susan (Marc) Hubbard of Mauston, Christine (Steve) Peloquin of Antigo, Joyce (Martin) Brown of Mequon, Lori (Pete) Knottnernus of Lake Zurich, ILL; four sons, Gerald Kosinski of Glen Burnie, MD, Daniel (Terry) Kosinski of Antigo, Mark (Nora) Kosinski of Tulsa, OK, Michael (Chris) Kosinski of Arlington Heights, Ill; a sister, Joan (Richard) Bunde of New Berlin; a brother, Nick (Monette) Kosini of San Antonio, TX; 42 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Jankovich; brother, Edward Kosinski and infant brother, Raymond Kosinski.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Antigo Community Church with Rev. Steve Sanford officiating. Burial will take place in the Town of Polar Cemetery with Antigo veterans conducting military honors. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 10 - 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Antigo veterans will stand honor guard from 3 - 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
