LeRoy "Shorty" Tatro
May 18, 1926 - August 2, 2013

LeRoy "Shorty" Tatro, of Antigo, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 87 years old. He was born on May 18, 1926 in Phlox, a son of the late Lyle and Clara (Bissonette) Tatro. He married his wife of 60 years, Delores Markgraf, on July 30, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. She survives.

Mr. Tatro served in the United States Army from September 27, 1950 until September 11, 1952.

He worked for Checkal Potatoes for four years. He owned and operated LeRoy Tatro and Sons excavation company from 1954 until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed operating a bulldozer and continued to have fun playing in the dirt after retirement.

He was a member of the Devine-Menting American Legion Post # 525, Phlox

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time at the cabin.

Survivors include seven children, Victoria (Robert) Prelipp of Birnamwood, Scott (Ann) Tatro of Antigo, Tina Tatro and her significant other Carl Christjohn of Antigo, Todd (Michelle) Tatro of Antigo, Lea Tatro of Birnamwood, Alaina (David) Reynolds of Wisconsin Rapids and Cal Tatro of Antigo; 18 grandchildren, Christina, Ronnda, Teejay, Steven, Mandy, Christopher, Dakota, Cody, Cortland, Nicolas, Trey, Sophia, Travis, Devin, Lacy, Katrina, Tim and Kelsey; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elaine (James) Seichert of Phlox, Betty Polansky of Menominee Falls, Yvonne Peifer of Pewaukee, Jean (Richard) Meyers of Milwaukee and Irma Blahnik of Antigo; five brothers, Roger Tatro of Antigo, Daniel (Gwen) Tatro of Phlox, Conrad (Tina) Tatro of Antigo, Gary (Joan) Tatro of Antigo and Kenneth Tatro of Phlox; and a sister-in-law, Ione Tatro of Phlox.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond, Johnny and Robert; a sister, Lee Ann Wiever; and three brothers, Eugene, Richard and Earl.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremiah Worman and Deacon Tom Hartman officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 10 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. A parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be held at the church Tuesday following the Mass.
