Roland Sage
September 28, 1930 - August 4, 2013

Roland Sage, of Pelican Lake, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at KHTCR-Eastview. He was 82 years old. He was born on September 28, 1930 in Antigo, a son of Alvin and Veta (Lyons) Sage. He married Joan Kaske on January 17, 1953 in Stevens Point. She survives.

He attended Sunnyside grade school in the town of Rolling and was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1948.

Mr. Sage served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Upon returning to Antigo he worked as a dental technician starting as an apprentice at Antigo Dental Lab. In 1965 he purchased the business and operated it until retiring in 1995.
In 2000 he moved to Pelican Lake.

His hobbies included making Maple Syrup in the town of Rolling, logging, cutting and selling firewood. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades having built four homes, enjoying carpentry and making furniture from logs he had cut.

Survivors including his wife are a daughter Lori (Gregg) Gunderson, Antigo; a son Jim (Lisa) Sage, Polonia; a fosterdaughter whom he hosted as an exchange student in 1976 - Anette (Scott) White, Antigo; five grandchildren Katrina (Ron) Seis; Forest (Heather) Sage, Melody (Ben) Thorp, Heather and Matthew Sage; three step-grandchildren Matthew Auclair, Marc (Trina) Auclair, Melinda (Scott) Bernhardt; two foster-grandchildren Nadine (Ryan) Schultz, Yan (Tori) White; twelve great-grandchildren - Tommy, William, Alyssa, Colin, Hunter, Morgan,, Alexcia, Mason, Xander, Wyatt, Trig, and Ellis; a sister Juanita Grzywacz, Stevens Point; and many nieces and nephews;

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Forrest Sage.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wilner officiating. Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites following services at the funeral home.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
