Nate Schmitzer
February 21, 1942 - November 23, 2013

Nate Schmitzer, of White Lake, died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at home under the care of his wife and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 71 years old. He was born on February 21, 1942 in Neenah, a son of Norbert and Viola (Diehl) Schmitzer. He married Jill Johansen on November 22, 2005 in Las Vegas. She survives.

He was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School in Menasha with the class of 1960.

Mr. Schmitzer was employed at the Appleton Post Crescent Newspaper for 33 years concluding his career as computer systems manager. After retirement he moved to Boulder Lake in Oconto County.

His passion was woodworking in his shop at Boulder Lake. He was a monthly participant of a card club in Appleton and hosted an annual trout fishing weekend at Boulder Lake.

Survivors including his wife are a son Greg Schmitzer, Appleton; a daughter Pam Miller, Appleton; four grandchildren Amanda, Kyle, Lacey and Ryan; one great-granddaughter Jayden; step-daughter Natalie (PJ) Hermsen, DePere; step-son Cole Davis Rhinelander; father-in-law - Leslie Johansen of Mountain; three sister-in-laws Roe Schmitzer Menasha, Naomi (Dave) Stemper, White Lake, Joy (Gene) Sperberg, Mountain; a brother-in-law Kurt (Nancy) Johansen, Appleton; and friends Ken (Sue) Diehl, Tony (Ginger)Powers, Nate Erb and Barb Deleeuw.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Valarie VanStappen;
two brothers Wesley and Jarvis Schmitzer.
