Karma Kaye Ellard, 52, and her husband, Audie Crawford Ellard II, 59, died Monday, December 9, 2013 in a fire at their home in St. Paul, Iowa.
Mrs. Ellard was born August 12, 1961 in Knoxville, the daughter of N. Wayne and Marjorie Ann Ohnemus Wilson. She attended schools in Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield and Southeast Iowa Community College. She was a registered nurse and worked in southeast Iowa her entire career. She was a member of the NRA and the Audubon Society and enjoyed feeding the birds, nature and being outside, and her family.
Mr. Ellard was born August 31, 1954 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Audie Sr. and Amelia Theresa Wojkowski Ellard. On September 7, 1981 he married Karma Kaye Wilson in Knoxville. He attended Catholic schools in Fox River Grove, Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellard are survived by their children, Marjorie (Adam) Wixom of Wayland, Audie (Jessica) Ellard III of Mt. Union, Willis (Mercedes) Ellard of Mt. Pleasant, and Michael (Jayzinne Cherrelle Keakealaniwahinemoi) Ellard of St. Paul; grandchildren, Alexis Ann and Corbin Lee Wixom, Audie Crawford Ellard IV, Elijah Gerrick Ellard, Lilian Sophia Ellard, Jordan Anthony Ellard, and Trevor Ivan Ellard.
Mrs. Ellard is also survived by her mother, Marjorie Wilson of New London; sisters, Gwen (Dave) Capps of Trenton, Jean (John) Weyrick of West Burlington, Wilma (David) Evans of Coppock, Becky Hale of New London, Peggy Swank of Otley; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers-in-law, Yogi Swank, Steven Hale, and Richard Jones.
Mr. Ellard is also survived by two sisters, Jackie (Jack) Perkins of Pleasantville, and Millie (Jim) McFarland of Santa Fe, New Mexico; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Rev. David Forrester will officiate. According to their wishes, the bodies have been cremated, and inurnment will be in Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM on Friday with the family greeting friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to help pay funeral expenses.
