Mark Stephen Cornwell
May 1, 1959 - December 24, 2013

Mark Cornwell age 54, of Ames, Iowa passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, at his home. A gathering of friends and family will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday Dec. 27, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames with a 11:00 a.m. Sat. Dec 28, Celebration of life Funeral Service at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Mark Stephen Cornwell was born May 1, 1959 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the son of James and Janice Cornwell.
Mark graduated from Ames High School in 1978. He attended DMACC for a period.
Mark was self- employed trim carpenter for the last 10 years. He did contract work for several builders in Ames, Nevada, Huxley, and surrounding areas. Previously, he had worked for General Filter for 15 years and prior to that worked with his father in home building. During his high school he worked for Hunziker and Furman Construction.
Mark had a scuba diving certificated and traveled islands n the Caribbean for diving explorations. He was a golfer and water skier. In younger days, he had a motorcycle that gave him much enjoyment. From the age of seven, Mark was a fanatical Dallas Cowboy fan.
Mark is survived by the love of his life, Linda Wilcox. Also, his parents Jim and Jan Cornwell, his sister Joy Womack and her husband Paul, their children Kirstin and Rachel, aunts and uncles Janice Persell(Bruce) of Spickard, Missouri, Sharon Cooper(John) of Joplin, Missouri, and Joyce Doerr(Joe) of Laurie, Missouri.
