Karen L. Lyon
December 15, 1948 - December 24, 2013

Mrs. Karen L. Lyon, 65, of Burlington died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 15, 1948 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Wayne E. and Charlene Helen Gantz Mooney. On January 23, 1991 she married Richard D. Lyon in Burlington.
Mrs. Lyon was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School and later received her Associate of Science degree from SCC. She was the receptionist - assistant for Burlington Oral Surgeon PC for many years.
Mrs. Lyon was very active with her classmates in their activities and reunions, was a member of the National Guard Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed bird watching, traveling, plants and her family - especially her grandchildren. She was of the protestant faith.
Survivors include her husband, Richard D. Lyon of Burlington; daughter, Kelly (Rick) Johnson of Marion; son, Brian (Monica Allen) Wolgemuth of Fort Madison; step-daughter, Jenny (Randy) Reece of Palo; step-son, Jeff Lyon of West Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, Courtney, Kyla, Payton, Elle, Benjamin, Caden, Ella, Maggie, Tate, Tyge, Logan, Lacey and Dakota; sister, Linda Deets of Burlington and nephew, Casey Olson of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Timothy D. Lyon.
Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Sunday, December 29th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Lyon will be 9 a.m. Monday, December 30th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and for Huntington's Disease Society of America.
