"All the Pedians, including Linda, Vahan and Ruth, share our gratitude and love with "all the Hughes family and friends" as I add to my sister's memories of our childhood as "next door neighbors" to the wonderful inventions, interior designs, international visitors, inquisitiveness, intelligence and emotional integrity of the family led by Peter and Nancy Hughes. They shared the best playmates, holiday visitors, play equipment, science labs, art projects and sense of humor with our entire family for all the years they lived next door, and long after from their command post in Highland Park and Madison, WI. Sailing adventures, Thanksgiving dinner at The Chicago Yacht Club and laughter throughout every memory will be the legacy we will all remember with every thought of Peter, Nancy, John, Anne, Stanley, Kelsey and Sam.-not to mention countless special pets, both inside and outside their homes. We will be there to say one last goodbye in this spiritual domain, knowing he will always be a lasting footprint in our hearts."

Barbara Pedian Schneider wrote on Jan 9, 2014:

"I was so very fortunate to grow up with Peter and Nancy next door, showing me how fun and laughter and adventure could blend together to make a dear partnership in marriage and the base for a close but not smothering family structure. Nancy's words to us in her Christmas card said, "we are still having fun, despite...." their physical challenges. I am so glad they were able to hold on to that right up until the end. And I am forever grateful for the life lessons they taught me. I will always hear his chuckle and feel the warmth of his smile when I think of him. "

Petie Rein wrote on Jan 1, 2014:

"Uncle Peter, you will always be in my heart. Your caring and enthusiastic phone calls ever since Epie died always made my day. You provided a grandfather-like interest in my children after their own grandparents were gone, and they both have been blessed by that. SInce you passed away, I know a new angel has been called home, and that helps. Thank you, Dear Uncle, for your love."

Annie Hughes wrote on Dec 28, 2013:

"I will be forever grateful that you were my father -- you were such a genuinely happy man, curious about all kinds of things and friendly to everyone. You simply loved life itself. I admired you as an artist and a sailor, the former leading me to become an artist myself, and the latter opening my eyes to the joy of adventures outdoors and the excitement of competition. Your optimism, creativity, spiritual convictions, and happy attitude will inspire me for all of my days."
