Jerry "Pud" Young
January 28, 1935 - February 25, 2014

Jerry "Pud" Young, of Antigo, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Langlade Hospital. He was 79 years old. He was born on January 28, 1935 in Rhinelander, a son of Crawford and Marie (Jape) Young. He married Mona Lindemann on June 11, 1958 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.

He attended St. John grade school and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1953. Mr. Young served in the United States Air Force with the strategic air command during the Korean War from 1953-1957 having been stationed in Korea, Okinawa, Hawaii and Alaska.

Following military service he returned to Antigo where he worked for his father at Bud's Drive Inn. He worked on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for seven years. From 1966 until retirement in 1990, he was employed as a fireman on the city of Antigo Fire Department.

He was a member of SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, and the Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2653, Antigo.

Mr. Young played for the Polar Bears in county league baseball and played basketball in the Antigo city league.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, playing golf and following the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Survivors including his wife are four daughters Mary (Jim) Schofield, Antigo, Chris (Kendall) Kamke, Oshkosh, Deb (Mark) Black, Kempster, Tammy (Bradley) Thomas, Oshkosh; two sons Mike (Melody) Young, Knoxville, Tenn, Jim (Mary) Young, Antigo; twelve grandchildren Eric (Jenn), Katey and Aaron Schofield, Kyle Kamke, Stephanie, Meghan and fiancee Lucas Williams, Molly, Marisa and Matt Young, Adam Black (Melissa Treml), Hannah and Alisun Thomas; four great-grandchildren Brie, Clara, Madalynn and Caleb; three brothers James Young, Wausau, Tim (Judy) Young, Antigo, Terry (Carol) Young, Oshkosh; a sister in law Bonnie Young, Pickerel; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Young, twin grandsons John & Joseph Schofield and a sister in law Mary Ann Young.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Reverend Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 3:30 - 8 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday and the Firefighters will stand honor guard from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.also at the funeral home.
