Glenn Johnson, 93, of Glenwood passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Hospice with Heart House in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Glenn Leslie Johnson, the fifth son and one of seven children of Minnie May (Johnson) and Seivert Wilhelm Johnson, was born on December 21, 1920 on the family farm near Glenwood, Iowa. He grew up in the Glenwood area, riding his horse to attend the Glenwood High School, and graduated with the class of 1939. Glenn was a lifelong farmer, south of Glenwood, and had served as the Mills County Auditor from 1960-1980.

Glenn and Wilma M. Bradley were united in marriage on February 8, 1941 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with six sons, Glenn "Les" Jr, Steven, Lyle, Lynn, Keith, and Brian.

Glenn was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood and an active member of the Order of the Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years. He enjoyed gardening and could fix just about anything that came his way. Glenn was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his pride and joy.

Glenn passed away on March 9, 2014 at the Hospice with Heart Home in Glenwood, at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Seivert and Minnie Johnson; son Lynn Johnson; daughter-in-law Sandy Johnson; great granddaughter Katelynn Beck; brothers, Kenneth Johnson and wife Pauline, Paul Johnson and wife Ruth, Benjamin Franklin Johnson and wife Thelma, Alfred Johnson and wife Lillian; sister Wilma Johnson; and brother-in-law Edwin Barkus.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Wilma Johnson of Glenwood; sons, Les Johnson and wife Karen of Rockwell City, IA, Steven Johnson and wife Marla of Elkhorn, NE, Lyle Johnson and wife Diane of Tarkio, MO, Keith Johnson and wife DeAnna of Mineola, IA, and Brian Johnson and wife Marilyn of Las Vegas, NV; daughter-in-law Lauretta Johnson of Des Moines, IA; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister Clara Mae Barkus of Glenwood; other relatives; and numerous neighbors and friends.
