In loving memory of

Christie F. Vitolo
February 15, 1922 - March 9, 2014

Christie F. Vitolo, former resident of Massapequa, New York, passed away at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the age of 92. He was dearly loved by his family and respected by all who knew him. Born February 15, 1922 in San Marzano, Italy, he immigrated to the United States January 11, 1931 and awarded citizenship November 23, 1943 just in time to serve as Army Sergeant in World War II at the age of 21. After the war, Christie returned home to Brooklyn and worked with his father sanding wooden bowling alley lanes. He soon would woo and marry his late wife, Elda. They were happily married for over 50 years until her passing in 1997. As co-founder and CEO of BarChris Construction, Christie had a monopoly on installing AMF pinsetters in bowling centers nationwide. The handsome and debonair CEO came to Fort Lauderdale in the early 70's and began a second career as a commercial and residential real estate developer. Christie is survived by 3 children, Christine, Joseph and Dennis Vitolo and 3 grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher and Christina. Christie Vitolo will be sorely missed by his wide circle of friends and family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale 33316 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with a Service at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park with Military Honors. "When the enemy death strikes your grief can be great. It's never the right time to say goodbye to a loved one. Death too to many seems to be a part of life. It's during times such as these that we can find comfort in the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9, 10 ~ "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth". Only God's (Psalms 83:18) Kingdom can bring peace, happiness, perfect health, and everlasting life. "Christine and family, I am sorry to learn of your fathers passing. I met your father a few years ago when you did a fundraiser near his house and I changed my clothes there. My brief encounter was memorable and I wish I had talk with him more as I am sure his life was very interesting. Take care and enjoy the memories. John"
