Brent Douglas McAllister
September 7, 1963 - March 27, 2014

The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Wellness Center Gymnasium. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Brent's name.

Brent Douglas McAllister was born on the 7th day of September, 1963 in Carrolton Missouri, the son of Larry and Marge (Adams) McAllister. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1982, and he continued his education at Brown Institute, majoring in broadcast communications. Brent worked in the broadcast/media industry for many years, prior to joining the family hog management business, Prairie States Management Company.

On May 29, 1993, Brent married Brenda Schulz in Emmetsburg, Iowa where they made their permanent home. To this union, a son, Larry Allen was born July 22, 1995. Larry will be graduating from Emmetsburg High School this May. His future plans are to attend Iowa Lakes Community College, enrolling in the hotel/motel program.

Brent was involved in the community in various ways. The Main Street Community Theater was his home away from home. He was involved in almost every production either acting or directing. Friday nights in the fall consisted of hearing Brent's voice as he gave the play-by-play of the E-Hawk football game. In honor of Brent's commitment to E-Hawk football, he was named Grand Marshall of Homecoming in 2012. In addition to theater and E-Hawks athletics, he enjoyed goose and duck hunting, golfing, and he was a dedicated Cardinals fan. He enjoyed going to watch them in St. Louis with Brenda and Larry.

On Thursday, March 27, 2014, Brent passed away near Everly, IA.

Brent is survived by his wife, Brenda, and son, Larry of Emmetsburg; parents: Larry and Marge McAllister of Emmetsburg; two sisters: Brenda Kincaid and her husband, Tom of Longwood, FL and Charla Egland and her husband, Mike of Ruthven; a brother, Troy and his wife, Brenda of Emmetsburg; mother and father-in-law: Allen and Nancy Schulz of Slinger, WI; two brothers-in-law: Brian Schulz of Mallard, IA and Scott Schulz of West Bend, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Kenneth and Ruth McAllister and his uncle, Kirk McAllister.

"I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises; "God is near to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalms 34;18 and 55:22) I hope this message will help you cope with the loss of your loved one."

His first plane trip. I was afraid my old worn out Datsun would not make it...with it's leaky radiator. But we made it. I think it was early November and the grass was still a bit green in virginia and he said " I need to get a job in Virginia. So I can play golf in December!
