Janet Kamps
August 4, 1931 - March 30, 2014

Janet Kamps, of Antigo, died after a long, courageous battle with CLL on Sunday, March 30, 2014 surrounded by her family at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 82 years old. She was born on August 4, 1931 in Antigo, the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Hubbard) Menting. She married Clarence "Sam" Kamps on June 5, 1950 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2008.

In 1949 she graduated from Antigo High School. She moved to Milwaukee and worked for Easy Painter and Briggs and Stratton before returning to Antigo in 1969. Mrs. Kamps was employed at Hunters Super Market for ten years.

She was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and St. John Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and served funeral dinners. She was a volunteer serving meals on wheels for ten years. Mr. and Mrs. Kamps were resident caretakers at Parkview Manor in Antigo from 1995 to 2009.

She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, scrapbooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynne (Ken) Doucette of Antigo; three sons, Dan (Pat) Kamps of Antigo, Kevin (Mary Ann) Kamps of Deerbrook and Keith (Jean) Kamps of Antigo; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Jeanne) Menting of Waukesha; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Menting of Boston, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Sam" Kamps, daughter, Kathy Eldridge; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Raymond, Richard, Carrol, Edwin and Larry Menting.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
