Genevieve Simek
January 1, 1924 - March 31, 2014

Genevieve Simek, formerly of Bryant died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Homme Home in Wittenberg. She was 90 years old. She was born on January 1, 1924 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Thomas and Tekla Sobon. She married Ladislar Simek on February 19, 1944 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1982.

She was a homemaker most of her life having raised her children in Chicago. The family moved to the town of Polar in 1974 where she cared for her husband during his long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Simek was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church and enjoyed ceramics, knitting and baking.

Survivors include two sons Thomas (Judy) Simek, Niles, IL, John (Rhonda) Simek, Bryant; three grandchildren Sherri (Jose) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Simek, Samantha Simek and special friend Nick; three great-grandchildren Janelle, Nathan and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, a daughter, Christine Simek, a son Lawrence Simek, four sisters Angeline Simek, Bernice Malik, Anna Andrews and Rosie Zyublut; a brother John Sobon.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
