Shirley M Beck
September 27, 1935 - April 22, 2014

Shirley M Beck, of Antigo, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Evergreen Terrace. She was 78 years old. She was born on September 27, 1935 in Neva, a daughter of Frank and Marie (Wavrunek) Urban. She married Clement Beck on June 26, 1956 at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2007.

She was raised in Neva, attended Springbrook graded school and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1952. She then attended the Langlade County Normal School for two years completing her education with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Mrs. Beck taught at Deerbrook graded school for several years and worked as a substitute teacher while raising her family. In 1992 she went back to teaching for several years at St. Mary parochial school.

Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, arranging flowers, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include two daughters Janene (Richard) Beck-Hafner, Bryant, Jacqueline (Jeffory) Karlen, Weston; a son Eugene (Mary) Beck, Wind Lake; a granddaughter Olivia Karlen; three sisters Germaine (Paul) Gaureke, St. Cloud, Minnesota, Rosalie (Jim)Borczon, Wisconsin Dells, Teresa (Dave) DeVore, Deerbrook; a brother Bernard (Donna) Urban, Bryant.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son Jerome Beck in 2007.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 - 7 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Terrace for the love and care given to Shirley over the past seven years and to LeRoyer Hospice for their assistance provided to Shirley in her final days of care.
