March 21, 1940 - June 24, 2014
Janice Gress, of Polar, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 74 years old. Jan was born on March 21, 1940 in White Lake, a daughter of Peter and Rosella (Servi) Jagla. She married Robert Gress on September 26, 1959 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Langlade. He survives.
She was raised in White Lake and graduated from North Fond du Lac High School with the class of 1958. A homemaker most of her life, Jan raised her family in Polar. Bob and Jan owned and operated family businesses that included a trout hatchery, Christmas trees and ginseng.
Jan was a member of St. James and Stanislaus Catholic Parish and it's Altar Society, the Polar Homemakers Club, the Polar Blazer Snowmobile Club, served as 4-H and Girl Scout leader, and participated in several golf and bowling leagues. She enjoyed traveling and regular events with friends in the cookie/birthday club.
Survivors including her husband are three sons Steven (Diane) Gress, Polar, Jeffrey (Amy) Gress, Wausau, Todd (Shawn) Gress, Slidell, LA; daughter Laura (Ronald) Riemersma, Fond du Lac; two brothers, Richard (Gail) Jagla, Birnamwood, Ronald (Dana) Jagla, Sheboygan; a sister Peggy (Barry) Dalberto, St. Germain; 15 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorna Martin.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in White Lake with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at church. A wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
