Bernard Joseph James Skarlupka was given the grace of perseverance to the end. His life and death proclaimed the glory of God his Savior. Thanks to the mercy of God, he rests peacefully in the arms of the Blessed Virgin Mary, his mother. Our Lord said 'friend, come up higher.' He is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Fleischman of Wausaukee and Irene Frisch of Antigo; four brothers, George (Carol) Skarlupka of Pelican Lake, Joseph (Georgiann) Skarlupka of White Lake, David (Jean) Skarlupka of Pelican Lake, Andrew (Phyllis) Skarlupka of Merrill.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marie (Schisel) Skarlupka, three sisters, Dorothy Rose, Virginia Laycock, and Florence Skarlupka; and an infant brother John.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Oratory 325 Grand Avenue in Wausau with Rev. Cannon Aaron Huberfeld officiating. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Gleason. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church from 9:30 until the time of Mass.
