A celebration of life for Dixie Wignall, 93, of Knoxville will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to HCI of Knoxville, Alzheimer's Association, or Park Lane Village.
Dixie was born February 13, 1921 in Pleasantville, Iowa to Loring (Bud) and Ruby Melick. She passed away July 18, 2014 at Park Lane Memory Care in Knoxville.
She was married to Jack Wignall on October 6, 1940 in Unionville, Missouri and were blessed with two children: Janet and Gary. Dixie worked at Maytag, took care of two girls that were like her own; she worked at the Knoxville Hospital until her retirement. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jack; and her sister, Neola Hunt.
Dixie is survived by her children: Gary & Jill Wignall of Melcher-Dallas and Janet & Mike DeGolyer of Knoxville; 7 grandchildren: Jodie Braezeale, Aaron Wignall, Jack Wignall, Troy Jensen, Jason Jensen, Cade Shera, and Kami Davis; 19 great grandchildren; and a brother Junior Melick.
