Jeannette Malchow
July 25, 1923 - July 26, 2014

Jeannette Malchow, of Antigo, died Saturday July 26, 2014 at Langlade Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 91 years age old. She was born on July 25, 1923 in Eleva, a daughter of Leslie and Agnes (Everson) Boe. She married Herbert Malchow on August 31, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2014.

She was a graduated at Hixton High School in 1941 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire where she received a bachelors degree in education. She completed her masters degree in education from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point in 1975.

Prior to marriage she taught several years in Dorchester. From 1960-1962 she taught at the Mattoon elementary school. After moving to Antigo she was employed by the Unified School District of Antigo as a first grade teacher at West Elementary until retirement in 1985. She particularly loved introducing her students to the milkweed caterpillar transitions to the monarch butterfly.

Mrs. Malchow was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, played in the Bell Choir, taught vacation bible school, provided desserts for church functions, and volunteered as church secretary one day a week.

She was a member of a local homemakers club which involved local trips and rotating lunches at members homes.

She loved to participate in the Langlade County Fair by entering baking and canned goods and making garments for the clothing review.

Mrs. Malchow loved music and directed several 4-H musical productions. She along with her husband enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her flower gardens and delicious raspberries.

Survivors include a son, Greg (Madeleine) Malchow, Oshkosh; a daughter, Kathy Goodyear, Wildwood, FL; four grandchildren, Tamara (Brandon) Jockman, Austin Texas, Brian (Karen) Malchow, Oshkosh, Joe (Nicole) Malchow, Oshkosh and Amanda Goodyear, Peshtigo; three great grandchildren Andrew and Abigail Malchow, Gabriella Jockman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and step-father, Henry Olson who helped raise her.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
