"We don't know your family but know the pain you all are having to endure through. We lost our 21 year old son just this past March 2014 while diving for lobster in Islamorada on spring break from the College of Charleston. This was our second son to lose in less then three years. I wish there were words to help comfort your family but there are no words. Our prayers and thoughts remain with Joseph and his beloved family."

"Words truly cannot express the sadness in our hearts over the loss of your beloved son. Every thing we have read about Joey and all the photos we have viewed over the past few days have brought us to tears. Even though we were not lucky enough to have been in his life due to living in different states, he is our cousin and we love him and the rest of you. Distance doesn't diminish out bonds. We will keep you in our prayers always and remember our cousin Joey as a very special young man who clearly made a positive difference in all of the lives he touched. May he rest in peace and may God bless all of you. Love your cousins from NJ, Gerard & JoAnn "

"Mr. & Mrs. Grosso, you may not remember me, but I was the coach at PJP for 1 year and I had the pleasure and honor to have met your son that season of 2006-07. Your son was one of the reasons that leaving PJP has been so tough to endure because I was only able to have a coach-player relationship with him for one year. However, in that year, I saw what a great young man Joey was. I knew he would be a great person, even more than a great player. I just wished I had been able to see him grow and become the person that everybody who knew him dearly can attest to. I cannot make you feel any better, but rest assured that coaching Joey for the brief, fleeting moment that it was, inspires me every day. It inspires me to give my best because your son believed in our mission and vision and gave the best of himself. I grieve in your loss, not identifying with the depth of your hurt, but enjoying the time I was able to know him. I pray for you and for your family that his presence in our lives continues to inspire us to be great, to be the best we can be, because he lived that way. May God bless you in these hard times. Sincerely,
Dirk Moran

"Your family does not know me. I am an associate of Jim Kehoe from work. I never met your son but I can tell you Jim was proud of him and spoke of him often. Your son accomplished a lot in his short life and if he was allowed to continue he was headed toward greatness. However, the Lord needed him more and now he's answering to a greater cause. I hope my note and knowing that your son, Joey, is in our thoughts and prayers comforts you."
