Melvin G. Schroepfer
September 2, 1942 - August 1, 2014

Melvin G. Schroepfer, of Antigo, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home. He was 71 years old. He was born on September 2, 1942 in Antigo, a son of late Melvin and Alice (Hoecherl) Schroepfer. He married Peggy Nicholson on June 8, 1963 at St. Mary Catholic Church. She survives.

Mr. Schroepfer was employed at Mortenson Brothers Trucking and Verne's Auto before becoming self employed in 1979. He was the owner and operator of Backyard Body Shop.

His passion in life was working on old cars and was proud to pass his passion on to his family. He was a "Ford" man. He will be remembered for his generosity; he would do anything for anyone without asking for anything in return.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, survivors include three daughters, Shelley (Dale) Doucette of Antigo, Christy Fay of DeForest and Janice Teal of Antigo; three sons, Ron (Vicki) Schroepfer of Bonduel, Carl (Jana) Schroepfer of Antigo and Tony (Jessica) Schroepfer of Antigo; nine grandchildren, Sarah Doucette, Sam and Nikki Fay, Kyle, Shawn and Aaron Teal, Colton, Jacob and Caysen Schroepfer; two sisters, Darlene (James) Royea of Milwaukee and Mary (Douglas) Graves of Antigo; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lu (Richard) White and Patsy (Richard) Nonnenmacher both of Antigo; and a brother-in-law, Tom Arndt of Lily.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Eldridge.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
