August 20, 1957 - August 5, 2014

Betty Jean Mehle age 56, of Ames, Iowa died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, a gathering of friends and family will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way in Ames. A 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 9, funeral service at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames. Burial will be at a later date at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Betty was born August 20, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Audalene (Paul) Barnes she graduated from high school and then married Charles B. Mehle July 24, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio. Betty was last employed as a baker at Odd Fellows Restaurant here in Ames. She was part of the American Legion Auxiliary here in Ames and a Fanatic over Betty Boop and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Chuck Mehle of Ames, daughters, Audalene Mehle of Edge Water Park, New Jersey, Jessica (Andrew) Beougher of Cedar Falls, grandchildren Xaiver and Owyn, her mother Audalene Barnes, sisters, Joyce Deible, Carol Toops and a brother Bill Barnes all of Colombus, Ohio.

Betty was preceded in death by her: father.

"betty was a friend since kindergarten. we became closer in our senior year in high school.we were going to live together after school has friends do but we never did.She was my maid of honor at my wedding. I was to be her too but I was away at the time. I did make in time to see her get married to Chuck.this pass year we started to talk more then just Xmas time.When she learn she had cancer she text me or call and just talk.I will miss u my friend, love Dena "
