Louis Ziegler
February 27, 1931 - September 1, 2014

WAUNAKEE-Louis (Louie) Ziegler, age 83, died on Monday, Sept 1, 2014, at his home in Westport. He was born in Ashton on Feb. 27, 1931, to Math and Anna (Kalscheur) Ziegler. He served in the Army in the Korean War and was a member of the Waunakee American Legion Post 360. He worked as a crane operator until his retirement. He was proud of his Lifetime Membership in the Operating Engineers Local Union # 139 with over 57 years of membership. He was also a 50 year member of St Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport. He enjoyed playing cards on Thursdays, and an occasional trip to Ho-Chunk. He never met a stranger, and could tell a great story. He especially enjoyed dinners with his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Shelley (fiancé George Patterson); two sons, Chris (Jacqui) and Terry (Denise) Ziegler; five grandchildren, Jesse and Carly Jo Ziegler, Megan Olson, TJ and Garet Ziegler; a sister, Mary Jane Vosen and a brother, Leo (Jeanette) Ziegler; sisters-in-law,Marie Ziegler and Mary Ellen Acker. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Marcella Ziegler, Charlotte Wagner, Eleanor Lauber, Evelyn Reinke and three brothers, Albin, Ray and Vincent Ziegler.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept 5, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. Rev. James Leeser will preside. A reception and celebration of Louie's life will follow at Rex's Innkeeper, 301 N Century Ave at 6:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice Care and the VA Hospital. A private burial will occur at a later date.
