Brenda Lee Murphy Trammell, 57, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
She was born July 6, 1957, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Larry Robert and Marilyn Jean (Dochterman) Murphy. She graduated from Clark County R-1 High School in Kahoka, Missouri, in 1975 and later received multiple associate degrees from Southeastern Community College in Keokuk.
She spent several years as the owner of Class Act Karaoke and worked with KOKX-FM, two businesses that allowed her to make many friends throughout the community. She was active in Kardiac Kapers and was always willing to lend her time and talents to other charitable organizations and causes. She loved spending time with and talking about her grandchildren, singing, taking pictures (often well-intended snapshots of unsuspecting people at unflattering times), and filling her thousands of Facebook friends' timelines with Betty Boop pictures and inspirational quotes.
She is survived by: two sons, Shane (Sarah) Murphy of Keokuk and Matt (Jessica) Murphy of St. Charles, Missouri; her father, Larry (Beverly) Murphy of Apache Junction, Arizona; her sister, Vicky (Mike) Berry of Keokuk; three grandchildren, Chloe Malone Murphy of Cedar Rapids, Ava Murphy of Keokuk, and Hunter Murphy of St. Charles, Missouri; three nieces and nephews, Casey Laehn of Joplin, Missouri, Nathan Laehn of Keokuk, and Emily Boyd of Keokuk; several aunt, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn, in 1999.
Visitation will be held at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on 917 Blondeau Street on Monday, September 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service officiated by Preacher Bob Wagner to follow.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary - Kardiac Kapers.
