Lyrl R. Zemke
February 21, 1925 - July 23, 2014

Lyrl R. Zemke, 89, a long time resident of the Traverse City, MI area, died Wednesday, July 23, in Montgomery, TX. She was born February 21, 1925 in Antigo, to the late Gregory and Clara (Weher) Parsons.
Lyrl was a long time active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, MI.
Lyrl retired as Librarian of the Kalkaska County Library in 1992. She enjoyed reading, classical music, gardening, travelling, and spending time with her family and many friends. She found great pleasure in scouring magazines and newspapers in search of just the right picture or phrase to clip, which she then used to create delightful custom greeting cards. Most of all, she enjoyed being outdoors and appreciating the beauty of God's work in all of the four seasons.
She is survived by her son, Gregg (Yelena) Zemke, of Montgomery, TX, and daughter Connie (Scott) Youker, of Traverse City, MI.; 4 Grandchildren, Andrew Zemke, of Golden CO, Kelli (Brian) Ingersoll, of Fife Lake, MI, Christine Zemke of South Boardman, MI, and Viktoriya Zemke, of Montgomery TX; 4 great grandchildren, Austin, Justin, Aidan, and Ava; and many other nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David Zemke, in 1989, granddaughter, Michelle Zemke, and son, James Zemke.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar WI, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20th, 2014, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Interment of mortal remains will be in Antigo Cemetery, Antigo WI.
