Jean M. Miller

Mrs. Jean M. Miller, 77, of Burlington died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014, in Burlington.
Born in 1936 in Albany, Missouri, she was the daughter of Carl and Martha (Whaley) Magee.
Mrs. Miller received her Bachelor of Arts and Master's degree in Institutional Management from Iowa State University. She was the Director of Burlington Community Schools Food Service for 27 years, retiring in 1998.
Mrs. Miller was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she also served on the board of trustees, Burlington Civic Music, the PEO Sisterhood, Tri Delt Sorority at Iowa State and served as past president of Iowa School Food Services Association. She enjoyed the arts, reading, gardening, visiting her family, picking blueberries in Oquawka, was an outstanding cook and an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan.
Survivors include one son, Charles (Lori) Miller of Troy, Michigan; one daughter, Sue (Ken) McConnell of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandsons, Jeff McConnell of Redmond, Washington and Colin Miller of Troy, Michigan; one sister, Sally (Dewey) Fitch of Peoria, Illinois; three nieces and a grandniece.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 20th, at Lunning Chapel.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Miller will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Deb Kinney officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Municipal Band.
