Alfred L. Miller
July 28, 1929 - September 22, 2014

Alfred Miller, of Pickerel, died Monday, September 22, 2014 at Cady House in Birnamwood under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 85 years old. He was born on July 28, 1929 in Appleton, a son of Alfred and Loretta (Frahm) Miller, Sr. He married Betty Schumacher on August 5, 1965 at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She survives.

When Mr. Miller was a young teenager his father died, which prompted him to leave school and operate the family farm. He later worked at Appleton Machine for many years and at Neenah Foundry. He retired early due to an injury and moved to Pickerel in 2004.

Mr. Miller was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pickerel and the Wabeno Tractor Club having owned two John Deere tractors: a 1952 A, and a 1942 B.

He loved camping and enjoyed snowmobiling.

He will be sadly missed by his wife; two daughters, Brenda (fiancé Ken Stellmacher) Whitman of Seymour and Bonnie Miller of Pickerel; a son, Kenneth (Penny) Miller of Kaukauna; four grandchildren Danielle Whitman, Josh Hietpas, Codi and Molly Miller; a sister, Rita Klingbeil of Appleton; and a brother, Bernie (Elaine) Miller of Little Chute.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Miller; mother and step-father, Loretta and Clarence Wilkum; and four brothers, Jerry, Earl, Eddie and Bob.

A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel with Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.
