John J. Quinn
October 7, 1927 - October 26, 2014

John J. "Jack" Quinn, Jr., age 87, of Spring Lake, NJ passed away at home on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Born in Orange, NJ to the late John J. and Katherine (Brennan) Quinn, he lived there and in Maplewood before moving to Spring Lake in 1980.
Mr. Quinn was a 1949 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and graduated from the McAllister School of Embalming, New York City, in 1950. A licensed Funeral Director, he was the owner of the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, Orange, and the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Homes of Livingston and Toms River until retiring in 1989. Mr. Quinn was a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club, Spring Lake, and was a former member of the Maplewood Country Club, Maplewood, and the Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club, Vero Beach, FL. He was a Past Trustee of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and the St. Patrick's Guard of Honor, both of the Oranges.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Maureen P. (McManus) Quinn, who died November 18, 2013.
Surviving are his children, John J. "Chip" Quinn, III and his wife Mary Agnes of Palm Beach, FL, Karen M. Quinn of West Cornwall, CT, Kevin G. Quinn and his wife Jeanne of Lighthouse Point, FL, and Mary Catherine Quinn of Ocean Twsp., NJ; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Catharine RC Church, West Lake Avenue, Spring Lake. An interment will be held at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Quinn's memory can be made to Joan Dancy People with ALS Foundation, Riverview Medical Center, PO Box 8157, Red Bank, NJ 07701, or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
