Daniel Lawrence Fuchs - 1/11/1942-10/29/2014
Daniel Lawrence Fuchs, 72 years old, of Hollywood, Florida (previously from Brooklyn, NY), lost his three-month long battle with cancer on October 29, 2014. He had been active and seemed healthy, until an unexpected loss of weight sent him to the doctor. The prognosis was not good, but Dan was determined to get the most out of the life he was allotted. He was happy to have met a lady, Toni Webb, in 2010, who enjoyed the same things he did: country music (especially Willie Nelson!), riding horses, fishing, gardening, and cats. They often went to concerts, plays, horse shows, and out to dinner. Dan commented that he had never met anyone who "kept so many plates spinning at the same time!" He said her energy gave him energy.
Dan was born in New York, on January 11, 1942. As a child and young man, he was an avid fisherman, often riding the subway, carrying his fishing rods, to get to his fishing destination. On the ride home, he commented that his fellow subway riders gave him plenty of space, due to his fishy aroma! He attended the University of Miami, served in the Army (stationed in California, and in Vietnam), and he had a career on Wall Street. He retired from New York to Florida in 2010, after the death of his wife of 35 years, Ann. His 91-year old mother asked him to moved in with her, in Hollywood, Florida, as she was in poor health. He did so, but he lost his mother in 2011.
For the past few years, Dan spent a great deal of time with his close friend, Toni, and her horses. He would surprise Toni with tickets to plays like "Lion King," and enjoyed their time dining out, working around her small farm, and attending horse shows. He helped plant the landscaping plants in front of her house, and helped her paint the outside of it. They went horseback riding when the weather was cool enough. He adopted a calico kitten from the Humane Society, that he named "Bella," and he loved her dearly. (Bella has now been adopted by Toni's son.)
Dan was liked by everyone who met him. He had many friends through his interest in fishing. He was always thoughtful, kind and generous. He loved animals, too, especially cats and horses. He is survived by his friend, Toni Webb of Davie, Florida, and his sister, Suzanne Fuchs of Forest Hills, New York.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering to remember Dan, at Toni's home in Davie, FL, on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 7:00 PM. Those who knew Dan are welcome to attend. Dan requested that his ashes be scattered at sea, in honor of his love of fishing. In lieu of flowers, Dan would love to know his friends donated to the Humane Society of Broward County in his name.

"When the enemy death strikes your grief can be great. It's never the right time to say goodbye to a loved one. Death too to many seems to be a part of life. It's during times such as these that we can find comfort in the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9, 10 ~ "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth". Only God's (Psalms 83:18) Kingdom can bring peace, happiness, perfect health, and everlasting life. "

"I am the Fuchs Family historian. Been searching for Daniel L. Fuchs for many years. So sad to hear of his passing. His father Albert was my first cousin. We were both named after my grandfather. Would like to make contact with his sister Suzanne?"

"I knew Danny Fuchs for more than forty years and was his best man when he married my late sister Ann. I have always found him to be a decent and hardworking individual who loved cats, fishing and eating; three attributes he shared with Ann. Hopefully now that they've been reunited in Heaven there will be enough good restaurants up there to satisfy their appetites. "

"My life was much better as a result of my relationship with Dan. He anticipated what might be helpful or fun, and was there ahead of me, waiting to arrange for it! He was a great listener, as well as contributing his own thoughts with a great sense of humor. A very loyal friend, a fun companion, and a wonderful encourager when I got bogged down with everyday things. He would say, "Be sure and ride your horse today - it is too beautiful of a day to waste indoors!" He always put my interests and well being first. I will miss him terribly. "

"We are so sorry for the loss of your dear one and our sincerest condolences to the family. Trials such as this one can be unbearable, "God is for us a refuge and strength, a help that is readily to be found during distress." Psalms 46:1 Draw close to God in prayer, He does not forget the outcry of the afflicted ones. He will give you the needed strength to endure the days ahead."
