Nancy J. Baker, 70, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at her home in rural Maquoketa.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, November 10, 2014, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday, November 9, 2014, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery.

Nancy Jo Streets was born on January 24, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Max L. and Leola M. (Lambert) Streets. She attended country school and graduated from Maquoketa High School. She married William August Baker on June 24, 1960 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville, Iowa.

Nancy was a housewife who raised a family, farmed with her husband and had worked at WALMART in Maquoketa for over 15 years until retirement.

Nancy was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, reading, puzzles, gardening and collecting pink depression glassware. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to honor Nancy's memory include her husband William "Bill" Baker Sr. of Maquoketa, IA; children Brenda (Darcy) Hankemeier of Maquoketa, IA, and Brian Baker of Maquoketa, IA; a sister Barbara (Carl) Hardison of Delmar, IA; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Bruce and William Jr., a grandson Christopher Hankemeier and a great-grandchild Aleah Steffen.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Nancy J. Baker memorial fund has been established.
