Madison - Cheryl Lynn Mjaanes, age 66, passed away at her home on Friday, November 7, 2014. She was born on April 2, 1948 to Edward and Darlene (Faust) Blankenheim in Madison.
She was united in marriage to Bruce Richard Mjaanes on June 8, 1968 in Madison. She graduated in 1979 from the Madison General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a RN at University of Wisconsin Hospital as well as St Mary's in Madison. She loved nursing, gardening, craftmaking and watching the Badgers and Packers.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her three children Jeffrey, Christopher and Bryan; daughters-in-law, Kelly, Mercedes and Heather; grandchildren, Kelsey, Riley, Gabriela, Colin, Charlie, Lucia, Zachary and Ellie; mother, Darlene; and sister, Debra. She was preceded in death by her father Edward "Jeff" Blankenheim.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Fr. Vince Brewer presiding. A visitation will also be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery with a lunch to follow at the church.
The family will be establishing a scholarship fund at the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing in memory of Cheryl.
