Omer Wirtz
October 6, 1919 - November 9, 2014

Omer Wirtz, of Deerbrook, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Care Partners in Antigo. He was 95 years old. He was born on October 6, 1919 in Brillion, a son of Harry and Mary (Rank) Wirtz. He married Mildred Denk on October 19, 1946 at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2009.

As a young man he farmed with his father and logged for several years. While residing in Deerbrook, Mr. Wirtz commuted to Milwaukee weekly where he worked at Kearney and Trecker for 27 years retiring in 1979.

He was a member of the Deerbrook Bridge Runners Snowmobile Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing anything outdoors. Mr. Wirtz was instrumental in starting Neva Days and involved with the restoration of the Corner School Museum in Neva.

He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Cyndy (Richard) Rutz, Oshkosh; a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Tom) Wirtz-Stuck, Antigo; seven grandchildren, Angie Elmergreen, Rhinelander, Tristien Kuenzli, Deerbrook, Randy (Rena) Aiuppy, Antigo, Devin (Ashley) Wirtz, Wausau; Dana (Justin) Hill, Milwaukee, Amy Rutz, California, Sarah (Steve) DeRoche, Appleton; thirteen great-grandchildren: Alexis, Reed, Boden, Brian, Jake, Shane, Montana, Hunter, Liam, Quinn, Braxton, Lucas and Aleeda with the fourteenth great-grandchild due any day; one great-great-grandchild Owen.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Wirtz; two sisters, Margaret Jirik, and Rosemary Smith; two brothers, Claude and Richard Wirtz.

A memorial service will be held on Monday November 17, 2014 at 12 noon at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
