Margaret Berg
April 4, 1922 - November 13, 2014

Margaret Berg, a longtime Antigo resident, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Autumn Lane Family Care in Birnamwood. She was 92 years old. She was born on April 4, 1922 in Antigo, a daughter of Anton and Margaret (Servi) Zangl. She married Melvin Berg on July 9, 1942 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1995.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1941.

Mrs. Berg worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company factory in Antigo. She and her husband owned and operated the Texaco Service Station at Fifth avenue and Superior street from 1956 until 1971. They later owned and operated Berg's Campertown on Antigo's north side for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Kennedy, Antigo; a son, Dennis (Sue) Berg, Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Berg, Greenleaf; eight Grandchildren, Todd (Caroline) Kennedy, Menomonie, Jeff (special friend Fawn Williams) Kennedy, Antigo, T.J. (Cindy) Kennedy, Amherst, Jim (Katie) Kennedy, Rhinelander, Steve (Carol Lynn) Berg, Antigo, Melanie (Chad) Adams, Antigo, Jodie (Brett) Buteyn, New Holstein, Terry (Dan) Frase, Appleton; 20 great grandchildren, Chris, Cole, Hunter, Brody, Tyler, Marcus, Gabriel and Liam Kennedy; Sierra, Cheyanna and Mason Berg; Conner and Payton Adams; Kaitlyn, Trevor, Collin and Mason Buteyn; Mandy, Mariah and Benjamin Frase; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, David Berg, a great granddaughter, Madeline Frase; two sisters, Hilda Dempster and Lillian Mertens; three brothers, Leo, Reinhold and Louis Zangl.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday November 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday in Hoffmann Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, LeRoyer Hospice or the Antigo Community Food Pantry.
