"A very sweet loving woman. I knew her best as the caring wonderful grandmother of Keith. I knew Keith from WSHS, and Carl and Lillian were amazing grandparents to him. Got to know her later as a mall walker. Also knew her as Doug's mother. We used to laugh at how intertwined our lives were. Carl also worked with my grandfather back in the 50s."

Lillian Samson age 98, of Rolling Green in Nevada, formerly of Ames died Nov. 19, 2014 in Nevada. A Graveside service will be held at a later date at Story Memory Gardens.
Lillian was born February 10, 1916 in Sheldahl, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Fay (Harden) Phillips. She graduated from Gilbert High School. She married Carl Samson, December 24, 1936 in Ames, Iowa the couple farmed in the Ames area. At the age of fifty Lillian returned to school and became a License Practical Nurse.
Lillian worked at Mary Greeley Hospital and later she and Carl assisted families within home health care. She and Carl were also active in Hospice care.
Lillian is survived by her son, Douglas (Barbara) Samson of Ames, her daughter, Carla (Nelson) Mossholder of Phoenixville, PA, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, and a son Gary Samson, as well as four brothers and a sister.
