"I will never forget the night I met Bob. I was attending a meeting for Arcadia Lodge in hopes of starting a DeMolay Chapter, a leadership organization for boys sponsored by Freemasonry. Before the meeting started he came up to me and said "Young man, if there is not support tonight in the meeting, you should just go back to the dorms and study your books." Little did I know Bob was to become the first Advisory Board Chairman of a DeMolay chapter in Ames, and a good friend. That night was a pivotal point in my DeMolay career and my life as it propelled me into new leadership opportunities not available to most 19-year-olds. I'm forever indebted to Bob and the members of Arcadia Lodge for what they did in those few years. It was always fun watching Bob banter back and forth with everyone. He was a great example of how to the treat the people you are with. "
