Jack Eugene Orr
September 26, 1926 - September 12, 2012
Jack E. Orr, a longtime resident of Portland and Mt. Hood, Oregon, passed away September 12, 2012 at the age of 85.
Born in 1926 in Canton, Ohio to Henry E. Orr and Arlene Martha (London).
He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving onboard the USS New Jersey and the USS Duluth.
Jack owned and operated Columbia Forge and Machine Works in Portland for nearly thirty years. One of his most memorable jobs was machining turnbuckles for the pre-centennial repairs of the Brooklyn Bridge.
He participated in many community service activities through his membership in the Masons and the Elks club.
Jack and Virginia retired to Mt. Hood, Oregon where they enjoyed golfing and socializing with their many dear friends and neighbors. They were members of the Mt. Hood Golf Club and the Riverside Golf and Country Club.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia V. Kreps.
Survivors include his sister Barbara Mink; 3 children: Bruce Orr, Brian Orr, and Lee Orr; 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jack will be interred next to Virginia at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A memorial for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
