BOYD HOLDING
Terrence Boyd Holding died March 1, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Boyd was born July 19, 1929, at the Salt Lake City home of his parents Joseph Terrence "Terry" Holding and Ida Openshaw Holding, delivered by "Uncle Clarence [Openshaw] the doctor." He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah (BS, Business), where he joined Sigma Nu fraternity. Boyd served in the Air National Guard from 1948 to 1951. He began his career with Chevron (then Standard Oil of California) in 1952, first in Utah and then the San Francisco home office. He visited Seattle on a business trip and fell in love with the area, and was delighted to be transferred to the Seattle office two years later. Boyd retired from Chevron after 35 years of service, last serving as Public Affairs Manager, Northwest Region. His outgoing personality and genuine affection for people made him a perfect match for his career, and he loved every minute of his public affairs job. Boyd kept us all laughing with his slightly off-kilter way of looking at things and his incomparable mastery of story-telling. He loved singing and dancing and was always happiest outdoors, whether golfing, skiing, sailing, fishing, gardening or just walking the dog.
Boyd was predeceased by his sister Bess Jacob, brother Howard Holding, daughter Alison Holding and son-in-law John Thompson. He is survived by wife Cheryl, his children Craig (Christine) Holding and Ann Thompson, his step-daughters Stephanie Tuttle (Steve Dingle) and Abigail (Charlie) Stanton, and his grandchildren Evan Thompson, John, Michael, Patrick and Katie Tuttle and Nick and Laurel Stanton.
The family wishes to thank Florina and Michelle, who gave Boyd such dedicated and loving care in his last several months.
Memorial Service
A celebration of Boyd's life will be held soon by his family and friends.

"We were blessed to have Boyd's smile, his humor, and his love in our lives.
I will truly miss how he could light up a room, and his special ability to be at once the biggest personality in the room, and make each person feel special at the same time."
