Jay George Cherrier
April 12, 1954 - June 22, 2013

Anchorage resident Jay George Cherrier, 59, passed away on June 22, 2013 in Bellevue, WA. He was born in Anchorage, AK on April 12, 1954. Jay married his wife, Chidem Calidrola, in 1997. Jay's business accomplishments provided him the opportunity to travel extensively between Alaska and Washington, calling both his home, with his primary residence in Bellevue, WA.
Jay was the president of Dragnet Fisheries in Alaska from 1978-2000; partner of Northern Lights Seafoods in Washington from 1990-2011; and the owner, president, and managing partner of The Port of Kenai, LLC and Alaska Seafood Services from 2001-2013. Jay was a West Anchorage High School graduate of 1971 and he also obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration at San Diego State University in 1976.
Jay enjoyed traveling, racquetball, skiing, boating, and golfing. He also enjoyed attending professional sporting events.
The family says, "Jay was a strong business man with the heart of a lion. He was a loving and devoted father to his son Roland. He had a passionate drive for life and never gave up on improving and obtaining his dreams and goals. He set high standards for himself in all that he pursued. His energy lit up a room. His eternal optimism inspired those closest to him. He enjoyed life and leaves a living legacy of successful endeavors in both his personal and business pursuits. Jay will be remembered for his great love of life and the love he showed for his family and friends. We will miss you Jay Bird."
He is survived by his mother Sue Cherrier; brother Dean Cherrier and sister Kim Cherrier of Anchorage, AK; sister Kelli Cherrier Reagan of Princeton, NJ; wife Chidem Cherrier and son Roland Cherrier of Bellevue, WA.
Jay was preceded in death by his father Roland Joseph Cherrier.
