In loving memory of

Hazel Mary Stearman
June 16, 1955 - July 16, 2013

Passed unexpectedly at home July 16th 2013.

Hazel Stearman (Barr) was born in Renton, Washington on June 16th 1955 to Kenneth and Alma Barr (Reeff). She was a lifelong resident of the Seattle area, and called Burien home from birth to death. She grew up as an avid Girl Scout. She was a graduate of Glacier High School, and was very proud of that fact. She went to work at Burien Nursing Center in 1978, and remained there as the Medical Records Director for 35 years, until her recent passing. Her gift to this world was her son, Kenneth, whom she spent her life doting on as his mother. Hazel gave new definition to the term "Workaholic", and was known to work months on end without a single day off. She loved her work, and the residents and staff of the facility she worked in for so many years. She also enjoyed spending time with her 3 grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, and Diana, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Her best friend for the past 16 years was her daughter-in-law Sheila Smith, and they were inseparable. Wherever you found one, the other was never far away. She spent her time giving to others, and that was a hallmark of her life. She was preceded in passing by her sister Diana in 1994, Father Kenneth in 2000, and brother Dale in 2012. She is survived by her mother Alma, brother Dean, and sister Susan.
