Arthur Grasso, 77, resident of Seattle, Washington, passed away July 25, 2013.
He was born in New York, June 13, 1936, the son of Atillio and Elizabeth Grasso. Arthur
attended the Art Students League of New York. His passion for painting continued as
he became involved in the NYC art world. In the sixties, he produced an off-Broadway
play, Darwin's Theories, starring Alan Alda and James Coco.
In 1968, he converted an 17th century farmhouse in Glen Cove, New York into a
gourmet restaurant. It was awarded three stars by The New York Times. In 1972, he
wrote and published The Tulip Tree Cook Book.
Arthur traveled extensively and was an avid reader. In 1985, he moved to Seattle, a city
he loved since he first visited when he was in the Army. Later in life, Arthur grew fond of
cruises extending his circle of friends around the world. He was an engaging
conversationalist and story teller.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Providence Grasso, nephew Michael Grasso, nieces
Elizabeth Germain and Maria Grasso. His only sibling, Michael Grasso Sr.,
predeceased him in 2012.
