Vernon C. Wendt
March 17, 1925 - March 22, 2015

Vernon C. Wendt, of Antigo, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Homme Home for the Aging in Wittenberg. He was 90 years old. He was born on March 17, 1925 in Antigo, a son of the late Fred and Pauline (Garske) Wendt. He married Irene Arndt on April 28, 1951 in Antigo. She died on Friday, March 27, 2015.

He graduated from Antigo High School in 1943. Mr. Wendt was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Cost Guard from November of 1942 until March of 1946.

Following his time in the service he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was employed at CA Hooper in Madison for three years, Gamble Stores in Antigo, Tomah and Marshfield for 12 years and Central Steel and Wire Company in Milwaukee for 24 years retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post 3, Antigo and the United Commercial Travelers-Janesville Local 189.

He was the proud recipient of an Antigo Garden Club Beautification Award.

Survivors include a daughter, Jodean Wendt of Tucson, AZ; and a brother-in-law, Allen Arndt of Green Valley, AZ.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Wendt and Mable Stone; and five brothers, Merle, Herb, Oscar, Lloyd and Rufus.

A memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Wendt will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Revered Debbie Pimm officiating. Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery with Antigo veterans conducting military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
