Lewis Marshall
May 18, 1922 - April 6, 2015

Lewis Edward Marshall, the son of George Harold and Ellen Victoria (Smith) Marshall, was born on May, 18, 1922, in Weldon, Iowa. Lewis came to Algona with his family when he was young, and attended Algona High School.

On July 26, 1943 Lewis was united in marriage to Alma Ione Baldwin. Together the couple raised five children.

Just after being married, Lewis enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Lewis reported to Camp Dodge, Des Moines and was shipped to Amarillo, TX for Basic Training. He later received training in communications, where he would later put his skills to work decoding messages in Terax Field, Brazil. Lewis was also in charge of direction finding when he was contacted by lost pilots. Lewis was honorably discharged in 1946, and returned home to be with his family.

After his time serving his country, Lewis went on to college for a year in Seattle, WA. He returned home and started working as a heavy equipment driver, and later worked for Iowa Parcels Service, where he delivered films for the theaters, and took around local newspapers. Lewis also owned the Chrome Café for 13 years.

Lewis retired in 1973 after suffering a heart attack. He and Alma drove around the country delivering motor homes for Broughm Industries. Lewis enjoyed traveling, fixing things, growing flowers, camping, fishing and boating.

Lewis was a proud member of Prudence Lodge NO. 205, A.F. & A.M., and proud member of the V.F.W Post 2541, Algona.

Lewis E. Marshall, died, Monday April 6, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society, Algona at the age of 92.

Lewis is survived by his children, Vicky (Roy) Hutchison of Algona, Nancy Marshall of Algona, Bea Kay (Dennis) Salmon of Spirit Lake, Mike (Julie) French of Nisswa, MN, daughter-in-law, Barbara Riggle of Red Oak; grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Randy, Shawn, Matthew, Brenda, Chad, Tiffany, Chris, Nathaniel and Samantha; 30 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Willis (Norma) Marshall of Algona and William (Maxine) Marshall of Phoenix, AZ, sister-in-law, Marie Marshall of Mesa, AZ as well as many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by this parents; wife, Alma Ione Marshall; son, Kenneth Marshall; granddaughter, Stephanie King; brothers, Robert and Raymond Marshall; grand-daughter-in-law, Theresa Hutchison.
