Mable Lucille Jones Holmes
01/22/1939 - 07/25/2015
Mable Lucille Jones Holmes passed away on July 25, 2015 after a short battle with Lymphoma cancer.
Mable was born on January 22, 1939 in Dougherty County Albany, GA, to Ike Jones and Pauline Bradshaw, whom both preceded her in death. She grew up with three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her children Chauncy Holmes (Tracy) and Shaunetta Durham.
Her brother Willie F. Jones. Her nephews Robert L. Jones and Carl Jones. Four grandchildren Davida Lenae, Brittany, Brandy and Virginia Akeyla.
Mable recently had her 1st great grandson Josiyah Lee.
She will be missed by a host of numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and family members.
In Mable's early years, she enjoyed singing and performing before she relocated to South Florida and married Clifford Holmes.
Mable was driven professionally to teach young people. She accepted a position as an elementary school aide/teacher for the Broward County School Board. She worked at three schools in the district; however, the longest tenure was at Dr. Charles Drew Elementary school in Pompano Beach, Florida for over 30 years.
Mable had the pleasure of teaching many generations of the same families in the community. She often shared stories with the children, " I taught your mother in this same classroom." Mable remained dedicated in her teaching work and in her will to teach the young as her health started to affect her daily routine. She eventually had to retire. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Mable will be cremated. Her ashes will be interred with the family.
The family would especially like to thank Heartland of Lauderhill, their amazing staff of medical professionals for their excellent work and loving care; for their constant, attentive treatment; and the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, of Lighthouse Point, Florida for making the arrangements.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 1, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Fred Hunter's Lighthouse Point Home, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The Lymphoma Research Foundation. (Website: http://www.lymphoma.org/site/pp.asp?c=bkLTKaOQLmK8E&b=6296735)

"I'm so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy. May you find comfort from your memories, as well as God's word the Bible. Why do people we love die? Romans 5:12 says: "That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." How loving of God to promise what is found at Revelation 21:4 which says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away. Share your favorite memories of Mable"
