Wayne Emerhoff Peterson
February 6, 1929 - October 13, 2015

Wayne Emerhoff Peterson, age 86, died on October 13, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be at 1:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa with a celebration of life memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Wayne was born in Ames, Iowa February 5, 1929 the son of Emerhoff and Marjorie Peterson. He graduated from Ames High School in 1948. Wayne married Verna Rouze on June 11, 1950 in Ames.

Wayne was the owner of Emerhoff's Footwear in downtown Ames with his father and later with his son Mark. After Wayne retired, the couple moved to Ivey Ranch Country Club in Thousand Palms, CA. They lived there for 20 years in the desert returning to Story City a few years ago. He was a member of Ames Golf and Country Club, avid golfer, enjoyed Iowa State football and basketball games, longtime member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, while in California, Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert, and when they returned to Ames, Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

Wayne is survived by his children, Rick (Susan) Peterson of Charlotte, NC, Linda (Steve) Little of Denver, CO, Mark (Barbara) Peterson of Ames, grandchildren, Michael Peterson (Maggi Gentle) of Ames, Melissa (Graham) Fuller of Johnston, Erik (Allison) Peterson of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Peterson also of Charlotte, NC, five great grandchildren, Jakob Peterson, Ethan Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Gabriel Fuller, James Peterson and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Verna Peterson, and one sister.
