In loving memory of

Fernande Pierre Philippe
August 25, 1930 - October 22, 2015

Fernande Pierre-Philippe, also known as "Gaga", passed away on October 22, 2015 at age 85 of natural causes in Miami, FL. Fernande was born on July 25th 1930 in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, where she was raised. She was the daughter of Sylveris Pierre-Philippe and Yonita Poitevient. Fernande was the 3rdof five children and the last surviving of Yonita and Sylveris Pierre-Philippe's kids. She has one surviving sister-in-law, Mrs. Adrienne Pierre-Philippe who was the wife of her late brotherWalter Pierre-Philippe. As an adult, she opened her own business selling fabric; sewing was one of her favorite hobbies. While running her business, she travelled to places like the Dominican Republic, Curaçao, and a little Caribbean island called Bonaire.

Another one of her hobbies was cooking. She was always in the kitchen and would make sure there was always extra food in case anyone stopped by, always saying "ou pa ja konen si geyen on moun kap pase". She would always offer people to eat something even if they were just passing by to check on her. She would feed a town if she could. Family from all over knew if they ever needed a plate of food they could go to Fernande's house. Her food will be missed.

Loving, giving, and patient, one thing she was very strict about was her religion. She was at church every Sunday for mass and every Monday for charismatic. She raised her children and grandchildren to know the importance of church. She was a big part of the St. James Catholic Church community where she was well known.

She leaves behind three daughters - Suzette William, Yolande Chanoine and Yanick Chanoine-Vassor - and a son-in-law Fontenel Vassor, whom she treated as a son. She also has five grandchildren whom she raised herself: James Gaspard, Didier Laurent, Fadhia Vassor, David Gaspard, and Fabrice Vassor. She was blessed to meet her two great-grandchildren before she departed: Aniyah Jones and Jaxon Gaspard. Her grandchildren considered her more than a grandmother; she was a mother for them. Their caregiver!

Surviving nieces and nephews are Frank Poitevient and children, Pierla Wroy and children: Nadia, Michelle, Cladet and Guy-Robert, Roger Saint Vil and family, Fritzner Elie and children: James, Nadine, and Nicholcia. Marjorie Bernard and daughter: Susan Josue, Moliere Alency, Yolette Pierre-Philippe and children, Evelyn Pierre-Philippe and children, Mirlande Vedelus and children, and Carol Chanoine and family. Fernande raised them as if they were here own children. Condolences.
