"Mr. Anderson (Boyd Anderson to his contemporary adult friends, family and peers ) was the man who influenced and inspired my life. His mother whom we affectionately called Tooti was the woman who inspired an example of acceptance and from that, a simple encouragement that didn't require words. I remember Boyd always had a bright smile and a chuckle punctuating each and every time while in his presence. Tooti had a smile that beamed joy for her all of us when we walked through her kitchen door.
I went to church with the Andersons at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church during my high school years. I went home with them to Tootie's house after church for lunch so many times that it was a routine. A foregone conclusion.
I probably slept at the Anderson house more then my own. Well maybe not but it seemed so.
I grew to think of Doug, Scott, Susi, Kay and Connie as my brothers and sisters. I list Doug first because we were the best of friends in junior high, high school and collage. We roomed together in collage at FSU. I watched Doug track his GPA one quiz and test at a time as he calculated his way to medical school.
Boyd allowed me to be a part of his family. The way he lived his every day ordinary life influenced me. He welcomed me into his family and home. His warmth and caring toward his children spilled over to me. His life as he lived it with compassion in meekness with God and family at the forefront breathed life into my soul. It inspired me to set the compas of my life and gave me an example of hope that I could one day have a family just like his. His words also were a counsel and influence to me in some very important decisions that I had to make early in life. I looked up to him with affection and respect. His life spoke to my soul.
2 Corinthians 1:12
For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, That in simplicity and godly sincerity, Not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our "Conversation" in the world, and more abundantly to you-word.
Mr. Andersons conversation in the world, the life he lived plainly to see spoke to me. It inspired the light of life Jesus Christ.
I remember the first time that I met Nancy, his wife. I remember her warmth and charm as she greeted me into her home for the first time. It is a joy to know that she was there to greet him home along side of Jesus welcoming Boyd into his eternal city where they are now living an unbelievable life of unspeakable joy.
He lived a life of truth that transformed lives. My life and many others. He did it in deed if not more then in words. The leagacy of light lives on to the third generation of eleven smiling grandchildren. They are a testimony to him and to the power of truth and light.
The Gospel according to St. Matthew Chapter 5 verse 16:
Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your father who is in the heavens.

"Boyd was a BIG fan of April Fools Day. I remember one day in particular that seemed endless. The goal..... to out wit Boyd. Forget using the salt shaker or the sugar bowl, that was a given. You didn't dare trust ANY food in the house unless it was hidden. All phone calls were suspect (from past experiences). The toothpaste trick on the doorknob was a dead give away but the saran wrap on the toilet almost fooled him. As midnight approached we knew our big chance was slipping away from us. We headed for the garage while Boyd and Nancy were sleeping (so we thought). Just before midnight we heard the door being locked. Thinking he had won......Boyd went to bed. Being locked in the garage presents all kinds of opportunities and we found it... tons of newspapers. Two hours later we managed (with help) to get out of the garage but not before we STUFFED Boyd's car FULL and I meal FULL of crumbled newspapers. Success! We beat Boyd at his own game...finally.
I remember that next morning like it was yesterday. We wake up to this screeeeching coming from the garage (LOL) and we knew...... victory at last. Then it happened !! We approached the garage and there it was...... HIS car with a BIG smiley face on the windshield with Nancy standing next to it in a panic. It was her week to car pool and HER car was GONE.......Boyd took it! Yes, we got the car cleared and Nancy made it on time......and Boyd claimed his victory!"

"My favorite memory - Uncle Boyd took Scott , my Dad Tom Peters and I for a ride in his 20' Thunderbird boat to the Florida Keys in the early 60's. Eventually I was allowed to pilot the course, with strict instructions to follow a particular compass heading. A big thrill for a 13 year old! No land in site for a while, then I spotted a buoy in the distance and changed the heading about 15 degrees slowly and smoothly. About ten minutes later, Boyd asked what I was doing. I pointed to the buoy. My path would have soon led us across a shallow reef. With a gentle but firm reprimand, he took back the pilot position, and said "out here, you MUST trust your compass!" A lesson for me. Looking back, this seems analogous to the way Boyd lived, trusting and aligning his life with God. Love you Uncle Boyd!

"What great things God did for Boyd. He blessed him with a gracious and loving wife, devoted children and through his grandchildren fulfilled Ps. 103:17. He was a good friend to me. I remember interviewing Boyd along with Doug and Connie for admission to Westminster Academy. Boyd got me interested in Francis and Edith Shaeffer and the writings of both. While it is always difficult to part with one we love, especially one's father, Boyd left for his children and grandchildren the greatest thing of all, the knowledge that by God's grace Boyd Anderson awoke instantly in heaven and now sees all that he hoped for! What a legacy!"

"When the enemy death strikes your grief can be great. It's never the right time to say goodbye to a loved one. Death too to many seems to be a part of life. It's during times such as these that we can find comfort in the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9, 10 ~ "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth". Only God's (Psalms 83:18) Kingdom can bring peace, happiness, perfect health, and everlasting life. "
