"Hi Dana. Needed to express my condolences to you on Donnie's death. I dated Jim back in the day and really appreciated Don's humor and sensitivity. He was always just great, welcoming and supportive - always. He'll be so missed, Val (Danfoth) Fast"

"I remember Wimpy from my years at High Mowing School. He was a couple of years behind me and we weren't close friends, but he was a really good guy and we got along well. If I'm not mistaken, I seem to recall that he kept a pet skunk in the dorm, too... And I don't remember any problems with that. (The skunk was probably de-scented, but I don't know for sure.) To Dana and the rest of Don's family, I am very sorry for your loss."
"We were in our late teens working at Jonabell Farm , cleaning stalls in a broodmare barn . Donnie would break up the monotony by climbing the short ladder to the loft and calling his beloved dog Useless (his name) to follow him up. It would take poor Useless all the courage and love he could muster up to awkwardly clamber up the ladder to join Donnie who would then climb down and take the ladder away ! You then heard : "jump , Useless , jump !" He would pace back and forth for ten minutes before taking the plunge .
Despite this show of tough love for Useless , Donnie was genuinely the nicest guy I ever came across. I miss him"
