Myron Larson
April 28, 1942 - June 15, 2010

Choice, MN

Myron (Mike) Larson, 68, of Choice, MN, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Rushford, MN, in April 28, 1942 to Myron and Stella. He was raised on what is currently a Century Farm in Choice, MN. He married Ilene Rustad in 1963 at the Highland Prairie Church. Soon afterwards, Mike received an agricultural degree from the University of MN. They briefly lived in Albert Lea, MN, where he worked for Wilson as a hog buyer. After the death of Mike's father, Mike and Ilene returned to Choice to operate the family farm for the rest of their married life. Mike truly found great joy in caring for God's creation through his love for farming on the fourth generation family farm.
They had three children, Heidi, Steve, and Jim, between the years of 1966 and 1970. Mike and Ilene were blessed by 46 memorable years of marriage from the Lord. Their grandchildren are: Carter, Haley, McKenzie, Riley, Anna, Hannah, Joey, Krista, Casey, and Ava.
During those years his desire to serve his community and church were evident through the many hours he dedicated as a chairman and member of the: Rushford School Board, Rushford-Peterson School Board, Good Shepherd Home Board, Fillmore ASCS Board, Highland Prairie Church and Council, Highland Prairie Cemetery Board, Fillmore County Pork Council, Fillmore County Fair Board, Fillmore County Beef Producers, Fillmore County farm Bureau, and Gideons.
Mike's faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior surpasses all his earthly achievements. His desire and passion to leave a legacy of his faith in his Lord and Savior to his family and friends was the foundation and joy of his life. Mike's compassion for others, sense of humor, and love for his family will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mike continually and passionately stressed his heart's desire to see all of his friends and family in heaven one day as they worship the Lord together.
Mike is survived by his wife, Ilene (Rustad) Larson, brothers, Stan of Edmond, OK, and Vernon (Sharon) Larson of Pilger, NE, sisters, Helen (Karl) Huseboe of Green Mountain Falls, CO, and Sarah (Don) Schmanski of Kauai, HI, one daughter, Heidi (Bob) Lee of Wyoming, MN, two sons, Steve (Michelle) Larson of Rochester, MN, and Jim (Becky) Larson of Red Wing, MN, mother-in-law, Madeline (Helleland) Rustad, brothers-in-law, Lyle (friend Sandy) Rustad of St. Cloud, MN, Daryl (Cheryl) Rustad of Tanzania, Africa, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Stella (Hatling) Larson, and father-in-law Lester Rustad.
